How to Check a Vehicle Challan Online
A challan is a notice for a traffic or vehicle-rule violation. Many are now generated by cameras and enforcement devices, which means a vehicle owner may not be told on the spot. That is why checking online from time to time is useful.
What you need
Only your vehicle registration number, for example DL8CAX1234. Spaces and hyphens are ignored, but the letters and digits must be correct.
Steps
- Open the Check Challan page.
- Enter the registration number and submit.
- Review the result shown for your vehicle.
- If anything looks wrong, confirm it with the issuing authority.
How to read the result
Each challan can include a date, the violation, the location, an amount and a status. ChallanDekho shows these as the data source returns them. Nothing is added or guessed.
If no challan is found
It means the source returned none at that moment. Records can take time to update, so try again later if you expect one.
Cross-check with the authority
For a second opinion you can also look up your vehicle on the government e-challan portal at echallan.parivahan.gov.in.
