Why You Should Not Ignore a Pending Challan
A pending challan rarely goes away on its own. Looking at it early usually keeps things simpler.
Reasons to check early
- No surprises. You see the amount and status before it becomes a bigger task.
- Possible escalation. Some notices can move to further action if left unresolved. Rules vary by authority.
- Paperwork. A pending challan may come up when you sell or transfer a vehicle.
- Correct records. A challan recorded against the wrong vehicle is easier to raise early.
What to do if you find one
- Read the date, violation, location and amount carefully.
- Check that the vehicle and details are actually yours.
- If something is wrong, contact the issuing authority.
- If it is correct, settle it through the route the authority supports and keep proof of payment.
- Recheck later to confirm the status has updated.
